St. Michael’s Appeals for Missing Paintings

Three pictures in charity auction believed stolen

The vicar of St Michael & All Angels, Bedford Park, has appealed for the return of three missing paintings that were part of last weekend’s charity auction. They had been painted by local artists for the church's Advent Calendar, as part of the church's Christmas Appeal.

Father Kevin Morris said the three pictures disappeared from the church last week, shortly before the auction took place on Sunday( January 8th). They are presumed to have been stolen and the police have been informed. "It is very upsetting that someone should have done this, particularly when it was clear the paintings were being sold in aid of charities" he said. "We are releasing copies of the pictures in the hope that if anyone is offered them for sale, they will know where they come from."

The three pictures are:
Day 9 - Fancy Duck by Jo Rankin

Day 11 - Christmas Angel by Liz Butler

Day 21 - Round Robin by Jenny Sanderson

Despite the incident, Sunday's Advent Calendar auction was highly successful. 20 pictures were sold for sums totalling £2,450. Thanks to the generosity of the artists, at least a third of the sales income will go to the Appeal charities:-
