New Co-chairs invite residents to attend meeting about crime

The next Annual General Meeting of the Southfield Ward Neighbourhood Panel is to be held later this month and its new Co-chairs are inviting residents to attend.
Sally Chacatté and Andrew Jennings took up post in April 2025 with the ambition to ‘share more information and raise awareness in the community to prevent crime’.
They have a number of new ideas to share with the community on how they propose to achieve their ambition and they would like all ward residents to come along to the meeting at 6.30pm on Tuesday 15 July at St Peter’s Church Hall, Southfield Road, (W4 1BB).
The Southfield Ward Safer Neighbourhood Panel is a community-led initiative in tSouthfield Ward, which contains the areas of Chiswick which are part of the London Borough of Ealing. It works with the local Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) to address crime and anti-social behaviour. The panel consists of residents, community volunteers, and sometimes local business representatives. It meets regularly with the local police to discuss community safety concerns, set policing priorities, and agree on actionable "promises" to tackle issues like theft, burglary, and anti-social behaviour.
These meetings, managed by the local police sergeant, include updates on crime statistics, recent incidents, and advice on personal and property safety, such as securing homes and marking valuables with tools like SmartWater.
The panel serves as a bridge between the community and the police, ensuring residents’ concerns shape local policing efforts. For example, priorities might focus on common crimes in the area, such as thefts from unlocked cars or home burglaries, which have been noted as prevalent issues.
Members are elected annually at an Annual General Meeting (AGM) open to those who live or work in the ward. The panel also collaborates with local partners, like the Ealing Borough Council, to find long-term solutions to crime and disorder.

We have a number of new ideas to share with the Residents of Southfield Ward and look forward to welcoming as many as possible to the Panel AGM on 15 July 2025.”
Andrew Jennings, Co-Chair, said “It was once said that “With great power comes great responsibility”. As co-chairs of the Southfield Ward SNP, we wish to “empower” our local community with simple steps towards keeping their possessions and families safe. As co-chairs we adhere to the old adage that two heads are better than one and on that basis, we are stronger together. We hope that togetherness and knowledge spread ubiquitously amongst our local community. Stronger together, safer through wisdom."
