Southfield Primary School's Sunflower Fete

Come along dressed as your favourite Olympian

The Southfield Primary School annual Sunflower is taking place this year on Saturday 26th May.

Sponsored by Orchards of London estate agents the event is on Turnham Green from 11am - 4pm.

This year the theme for the children’s fancy dress parade which is always a highlight of the fete, is “The Olympics”. Come dressed as one of the first ever Olympians or one of your favourites from this year - there are plenty of sports and nationalities to choose from. There will be a prize for the best costume judged by a special guest.

From a giant mega slide and a children’s carousel to face painting and fine food there’s something to amuse all ages. Little ones will enjoy showing off their artistic talent in Craft Corner or trying their hand at traditional games such as hook-a-duck and panning for gold while older children will love the mega slide, the football tournament and old favourites such as the coconut shy.

You can also indulge your taste buds at Mackens BBQ or try a selection of an eclectic mix of food from around the world, courtesy of the culinary skills of the school’s parents.

Last year, the event raised over £11,000 for the installation of an amazing sensory garden. It is hoped that this year’s profits may even raise in excess of last year’s and raise funds for further playground equipment and refurbishment, art projects, theatre visits and music activities.

Mr Simon Prebble, Head teacher at Southfield Primary School says, “The Sunflower Fete is a much anticipated date on the school calendar. It’s a day when the whole school as well as the wider community can join together to help raise money for various school projects. First and foremost it is a lot of fun, it’s a great family day out and there is something for everyone”.
