Festive Events at Russian Cathedral in Chiswick

Foodbank distribution and Christmas Fair this month

Volunteers pack food parcels for distribution

November 12, 2025

The Cathedral of the Nativity of the Mother of God and the Holy Royal Martyrs, located on Harvard Road in Chiswick, is holding two events this November.

On Saturday 8 November, volunteers gathered at the Cathedral House for a food packing session, preparing parcels of dried and canned goods for distribution to families facing hardship. The ROCOR London Foodbank, which operates bi-weekly, serves refugees from the war in Ukraine, parishioners in difficulty, and those affected by the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.

Food parcels will be distributed on Sunday 9 November from 1pm to 3pm at the Parish House, 57 Harvard Road, Chiswick W4 4ED. Those in need are welcome to collect a parcel during these hours. Availability may vary, and further information is available via WhatsApp at +44 7768 589875.

Looking ahead, the Cathedral invites the public to its beloved Traditional Christmas Fair on Sunday 16 November, from 12:45pm to 4pm. Held at the same location, the fair promises a welcoming atmosphere with homemade pastries, hearty dishes, hot drinks, household goods, books, and bric-a-brac items.

This annual fair has been a cherished tradition for over 50 years, offering not only festive cheer but also an opportunity to support charitable causes and connect with the local community.

Founded in 1725, the ROCOR Cathedral is one of the oldest Orthodox parishes in the British Isles. Now housed in a striking Pskov-style building consecrated in 2018, it serves as the Cathedral See of the Diocese of Great Britain and Western Europe of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia. It is also the seat of the Diocesan Bishop for the region.
