June 5, 2025
The Phil Brown Swingtet will be playing again at The Duck and Ball on Thursday 19 June and thereafter on the third Thursday of the month 2025.
This six-piece band plays virtually every style of jazz from traditional, mainstream and modern - from Armstrong to Basie! Apart from the hugely experienced Phil on trombone, his son Lester plays trumpet and flugelhorn, Mark Aston is on clarinet, alto, tenor and baritone saxes, Mike Bennett is on double bass and brothers Andrew and David Clancy are on piano / keyboard and drums respectively.
Regular guests include jazz vocalists Diane Slater, Isabel Saunders and occasionally Tim Wacher, trumpeters Chris Hodgkins and Anthony Cox, Pete Clancy (Andrew and David’s dad) on trombone and many others.
At the May session, the Band were joined by Dan Guest and some of his Lindy Circle Dancers, swing dancing to a great live band. The band says they are very welcome to return whenever they wish. Whatever style of jazz you like, an entertaining evening is promised at this local venue.
Entry is free and parking is available and bus routes E3, 190 and 533 pass nearby.
The Duck & Ball is a bar, kitchen, and event space located at 12 Riverside Drive in Chiswick (W4 2SP) opposite Dukes Meadows. It occupies the cricket pavilion of Chiswick Cricket Club
