Andy's Marathon Walk In His Wife's Memory

Joined by family and friends to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support

Chiswick resident Andy Reid will be joined by 35 friends and family members in a 26 mile marathon walk to to raise awareness and money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Andy said “We will be walking in memory of Barbara who lost her long battle with cancer in January 2006. With a number of her friends Barbara did the Moonwalk marathon in 2004 in aid of breast cancer charities.

"She was a huge admirer of the Macmillan nurses who she saw whenever she attended Charing Cross hospital for one of her many appointments and who wonderfully helped her remain at home in her last days.

"We are doing this walk to help support the fantastic work that Macmillan does.”

Kizzy Wardle, Macmillan Fundraising Manager for West London, said, "With 25,000 people in London diagnosed each year, the need is pressing and we need your help to make a difference."

Macmillan Cancer Support helps people who are living with cancer. As well as taking action today to support people with cancer, we’re shaping the future of cancer care.

Their increasing range of services, including Macmillan nurses, doctors and other health professionals, cancer care centres, a range of cancer information, practical help at home and help with money, is funded entirely through the generosity of their supporters.
