Hogarth Singers to Perform Songs for Nature

Summer Concert moves to alternative venue during Bedford Park Festival

The Hogarth Singers

Hogarth Singers return this June with a summer programme that celebrates the natural world in all its colour and complexity — and this year, they do so in a new venue. With St Michael & All Angels fully committed to the Bedford Park Festival, the choir will perform at Holy Innocents Church, Paddenswick Road, a beautiful acoustic setting well suited to their warm, expressive sound.

The concert, titled Songs for Nature, takes place on Saturday 27 June at 7pm, and brings together an evocative mix of contemporary choral writing, folk traditions and lyrical reflections on the landscape. The choir will be joined by the Belmont Primary School Choir, adding youthful brightness to a programme that includes works by Bob Chilcott, C.H.H. Parry, Sarah Quartel, John Rutter, and a selection of English and Congolese folk songs.

The performance will be conducted by Rupert Gill, with Andrew Wells at the piano — a partnership well known to Hogarth Singers audiences.

Tickets are available now via hogarthsingers.uk, by phone on 07341 413884, or on the door.

Prices: £15 advance / £13 concessions, £16 on the door / £14 concessions, and free for under-16s. Doors open at 6.30pm.

Founded in the early 1980s as an offshoot of IBM’s Meistersingers choir, the Hogarth Singers have grown into one of Chiswick’s most respected chamber choirs. Now a registered charity, the group is dedicated to promoting choral music and public education in the art and science of music. With a membership of around 50–60 singers, the choir performs a wide repertoire of sacred and secular works, from Renaissance motets to contemporary compositions.

The choir rehearses weekly at St Michael and All Angels Church and typically presents three concerts each year, alongside social events and occasional outreach performances. The atmosphere is described as friendly and inclusive, with no formal audition required, though new members are invited to sing for the Music Director. The choir particularly welcomes younger singers and offers discounted rates for under-25s and new tenors and basses.
