Species normally seen in Europe has only been recorded at three London sites

A species of spider which is generally only found in continental Europe, has been found in the local nature reserve Gunnersbury Triangle.

Several of the Anyphaena numida - were found by a regular visitor Mick Massie at the Triangle and he reported it to the London Wildlife Trust.

The species has only been recorded at three London sites. It is generally found in Portugal, Spain, France, Algeria.

Anyphaena is a genus of spider belonging to anyphaenid sac spiders or ghost spiders.

The nature reserve is a Green Flag Award winner which means that the space boasts the highest possible environmental standards, is beautifully maintained, and has excellent visitor facilities.

The entrance to Gunnersbury Triangle Nature Reserve is on Bollo Lane, London W4 5LW
(opposite Chiswick Park tube station)

Gunnersbury Triangle is a local wet woodland nature reserve that was saved from development in the early 1980s.

Today, birds and small mammals take advantage of the sheltered birch and willow, while walkways and footpaths help visitors explore this wild oasis in Chiswick.
