Round-up of Bonfire Night Fun


Plenty of choice locally for displays this year

Chiswick will play host to a variety of fireworks displays , as schools, churches, and clubs all try to organise the best party ever for Guy Fawkes Night. The following is a round- up of some of the events in W4 , all on various dates and with enough fireworks to keep adults and children happy.

The annual fireworks event held by the Friends of Strand on the Green schools will take place on Thursday 3 November. Doors open at 6.30, the display starts at 7.15, in the Infant school playground, entry via Brooks Lane. Tickets are £5 for adults, £3 for children, available from the schools. There will be a licensed bar selling mulled wine, plus other food and drink on sale. The event is sponsored by River Homes, and will raise money for both the Infants and Junior schools.

St. Paul's Church and Gardens annual fireworks party is on Sunday, November 6th at Grove Park Road. Tickets in advance cost £8 Adult (£10 on gate); children £4.50 ( £5 on gate), and Family £25 ( £ 30 on gate). Food and drink are included. The Lord Mayor's annual fireworks display includes more than half a tonne of giant fireworks launched over 600ft into the sky before exploding in a spectacular shower of sound and light. Chiswick Pier Trust have organised a cruise to see the Fireworks on November 12th.

The 'Queen Elizabeth' will set off from the Pier at 3.30pm to view the fireworks at 5pm, and plans to be back by 7.p.m. Ring 0208 742 2713 or 07594 596729 for tickets.The cost for the cruise only: Adults £16 Seniors £13 Children (under 12) £10.

The Park Club always has a great fireworks display and this year it will be held on Friday, November 4th. Although mainly for members if you have friends going ask them to take you along - guests are welcome (cost is Adults: £15, Children £5) as long as they are accompanied by a card-carrying member of the club. The theme is a closely guarded secret but the evening will include a funfair, traditional bonfire, family disco, a surprise act and the fireworks display. Access is from 5.30pm and the fireworks start at 7.45pm. until about 22.00.

Chiswick Business Park's annual fireworks display will take place on Thursday 3rd November.

This year’s event will include spectacular fireworks, stilt-walkers, a BBQ and live music. The event starts from 6pm with fireworks at 7pm on the Chiswick Park events plaza. Entry to this event is free. Glow sticks will be available for £1 donation towards Shooting Star CHASE the local children’s charity being supported by the Chiswick Park Community Trust.

(Please note the Bollo Lane entrance to Chiswick Park will be closed and no access to the Park will be possible using this route between 6.30pm and 7.45pm for health and safety reasons.

Ravenscourt Park will hold its fireworks display on Saturday, November 5th. Hammersmith and Fulham Council, which is funding the event, expects over 15,000 people to attend. The gates open at 6 p.m. and a children's fireworks display with start at 7.15 p.m. with the main display at 8 p.m.
