Community & Police Consultative Group Public Meeting

Next meeting to be held in Chiswick on Monday 11th July

The Hounslow Community & Police Consultative Group (CPCG) has formally been in existence since 1985 and is independent of the Police, Council or any other Government body.

It is made up of representatives of voluntary organisations, business and public bodies who have an interest in policing and crime in the Borough of Hounslow. The Group is the only public consultation forum where members of the public can question and challenge the Senior Police Officers responsible for the policing of the borough.

Membership of the Group consists of approximately 40 local community and voluntary groups, including tenants and residents associations, religious groups, voluntary organisations (such as the Citizen’s Advice Bureau and Victim Support groups), senior citizens, youth groups and local business concerns (such as the London Borough of Hounslow Chamber of Commerce).

There is also a standing membership, which includes senior Police representatives, Borough councillors, local members of Parliament and of the European Parliament and the Link Member for the Metropolitan Police Authority.

The Hounslow CPCG aims to be a representative voice of the community on policing issues in the borough and to build confidence between the Police and the community so that crime and the fear of crime can be successfully reduced. The Group also strives to challenge racial harassment in partnership with the Police.

Members of the public and the local press are always welcome to attend the CPCG meetings.
Members of the public are encouraged to ask questions and raise issues. We ask that, where possible, a question sheet is filled in and sent by post, email or fax to the Group Secretary before the meeting. This will help to ensure that your question is answered fully at the meeting.
Please note that individual cases will not be discussed at these public meetings.

There are a number of items that are discussed at every meeting, such as Police crime statistics, local policing updates and London-wide policing matters. Members of the Group also provide regular presentations on the work and activities carried out by the organisations they represent.
