The first of Chiswick Pier Trust’s "Talks by the Thames" series this year will focus on climate change and its potential impact on Chiswick’s riverside.

Rebecca Kendrick, from the Thames Landscape Strategy/Thames Strategy Kew to Chelsea will be giving a talk titled ‘Creating a Climate Resilient Landscape.

She will be speaking about initiatives being developed to protect the local riverside from impacts of climate change and introducing the work of the Joint Thames Strategies Refresh project, which considers the future of the Thames in light of current climate and flood risk pressures. It will be a chance to discover how this project will work with communities and boroughs and how to get involved.

The talk takes place at Chiswick Pier House on Tuesday 30 January.

Tickets are free to CPT members, and £5 to non-members. Although tickets may be available on the door, it is strongly advised that you book as previous talks have sold out.

On 10 March there will be a Mothering Sunday "Afternoon Tea on the Thames"

Celebrate the day by joining Chiswick Pier Trust aboard a boat on the River Thames. Treat the family to a delicious full afternoon tea served at the table whilst cruising upstream. There will be a commentary pointing out the interesting sights as you sail along the river to Teddington.

The boat will depart from Chiswick Pier at 14.30 with embarkation from 14.15.

You are advised book your tickets early as this is a very popular event which sells out fast. Ticket cost £34 for adults £34 or £24 for children under 8.

Don't forget that the Boat Race is on Saturday 30 March. Details of what's happening then at Chiswick Pier will be announced soon, as will the many other events the Trust has planned.

The trust works to engage people with the River Thames. It provides access to the Thames and support major river events, as well as organising events of its own.
