Bottle Makes Local Stop in Source To Sea River Relay

Chiswick Pier Trust take part in major Thames festival

As part of this year's Totally Thames festival, a bottle of water passed along from the source of the Thames will make a feted entrance to Chiswick Pier on September 4th and 5th.

In the quirky 'Source To Sea River Relay' - first organised last year - walkers, swimmers, rowers, and more are set to come together in a unique relay, passing a bottle filled with water from the source of the Thames, through the capital, and then out to sea.

The whole relay is set to cover over 200 miles of riverside paths in the space of two weeks. Along its way, the bottle is booked in for an overnight stay in Chiswick, and Chiswick Pier Trust (CPT) are hoping to give it a warm welcome in W4.

After reaching the capital for the start of the Totally Thames festival on 1st September, the bottle will be picked up from The London Museum of Water & Steam and then transported to Chiswick Pier by the resident Royal Lifeboat crew on the evening of September 4th before staying the night at the Pier House.

The Mayor of Hounslow is set to be pierside to greet the arrival of the bottle in Chiswick, and the Chiswick Pier Trust are also planning to host a tie-in event for the local community to celebrate the Thames.

The Pier Trust has asked local residents to keep their eyes peeled on the official CPT website for more updates.
