Time To Enter the Young People's Poetry Competition

Entries are now open for this year’s Young People’s Poetry Competition, run by the Chiswick Book Festival and sponsored by ChiswickW4.com
Now in its eleventh year, the aim of this free competition is to develop children’s creativity in poetic form. Children may write in English on any theme that they wish.
Poems are read anonymously by a panel of judges including a published poet, teachers and a school librarian, who all have a keen interest in children’s poetry.
The competition is open to children anywhere in the UK aged between 8 and 12 in Years 3 to 7 on the closing date, which is Monday 7 June.
Entries are accepted by email or post from individuals and schools, who may send in poems by up to 30 students. Submissions are limited to one poem per child and must be no longer than 25 lines with a title, be handwritten in ink or typed and submitted with the correct entry form in A4 size.

There will be a prize-giving ceremony for winners, their families and school staff as part of the Chiswick Book Festival. It will take place on Friday 10 September.
