Last Call to Enter Young People's Poetry Competition

Rain stopping play? Get writing. The deadline for receipt of entries to the Young People's Poetry Competition 2018 is this Monday 4 June.

Now in its eighth year, the Young People's Poetry Competition is free and open to children in Years 3-7 aged between 8-12 years. Entries must be sent with the application form by post only not email.

Poems can be on any topic area: the only stipulations are that each poem should be the child's own work (with no parental help) and is limited to a maximum of 25 lines. Poems should be hand-written, although typed copies are acceptable for Year 6 & 7 entries and in special circumstance.

Young people are invited to write a poem at home, or at school, about whatever appeals to them.

You can enter via your school or individually by post (but please take a photocopy of your poem as entries cannot be posted back).

There will be a special prize-giving in September at The Chiswick Book Festival (12 to 17 September). In past years Michael Morpurgo , Cressida Cowell and Simon Mayo have given out the prizes.
