The Chiswick Book Festival Young People’s Poetry Competition for ages 8-13 has been a great success with large numbers of entries from local schools.

Organisers say “The freshness and energy of their writing has been a delight”. Response has been such that a special poetry workshop for children has been added to the festival’s free children’s programme on Saturday September 17th at 1.00pm.

All entrants are invited to come along to hear the winning poems, join a fun and lively workshop to spark their creativity and receive a special entrant’s certificate. They can also see their own and all the other Competition poems, specially displayed in the St Michael’s and All Angels Church.

There’s still chance to enter poems for the Competition before the 31st August deadline. The Prize-giving for the six winning poets takes place on Friday September 16th, following Michael Morpurgo’s Opening Festival speech at 5pm.
