Young Apprentices Get Help from Athena

Women’s Business Network reaches out to young women

The Athena Women’s Business Network Chiswick will celebrate International Women’s Day on Thursday 8 March by discussing how to help young women find jobs. The meeting will be at Carvosso’s, 210 Chiswick High Road, W4 1PD at noon.

Two young female apprentices from the Hounslow Borough Apprentice Scheme will attend their meeting where the guest speaker, Glenda Shawley from the Hounslow Borough Apprentice Scheme will be talking about her experience of working with young people, the challenges they face and how the scheme works.

In addition, the Hounslow apprentices will be offered work experience with Athena members, as well as advice on dressing for interviews from Joan D’Olier, another Athena member, who runs House of Colour, an image and style consultancy.

Joanne Sumner, Regional Director, The Athena Network West London, says “As the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is bridging the generational gap, we wanted to invite young women to come and see businesswomen in action promoting and inspiring each other and to witness the wide range of businesses women go into. At the Chiswick group we have a diverse range of businesses from meditation to interior design and we’re seeking new members to join us.”
