Exhibition of Thames-Inspired Art This Weekend

Being held at St. Peter’s Wharf Riverside Studio on Chiswick Mall

Mudflats and River Bed: Jenny Price

A special exhibition of new Thames-inspired paintings and sculptures by two west London artists, Jenny Price and Caroline Winn, will be held on March 4 and 5 in a riverside studio at St Peter’s Wharf on Chiswick Mall.

The exhibition will feature the artists’ recent abstract work that is heavily influenced by the river, its environment and its history in Chiswick and Hammersmith. Jenny Price’s new series of canvases - “Mudflats and Reedbeds" - uses a combination of acrylic paint and loose weaves. Her work translates sensations into landscape to capture themes of change, transition and hope, and are inspired by the colours and textures of the Thames locally. Jenny trained at Camberwell Art School and has worked in France and London.

Caroline Winn’s unique ceramic sculptures reflect the history and heritage of the river in London, including the industries and activities formerly located on the Thames in Chiswick. They often incorporate metal and ceramic artefacts found by Caroline along the foreshore, which she fires into the clay to produce highly individual effects. Her stoneware and porcelain sculptures can be sited either indoors or in the garden outdoors and indoors. Caroline formerly worked at the Tate Gallery and her work is found in private collections across the UK and abroad.

Jewellery maker Eileen Coyne will also open her adjacent studio in St Peter's Wharf to visitors during the weekend. She describes her style as contemporary ethnic and often uses antique elements in her jewellery.

The exhibition on March 4-5 will run from 9am to 5.30pm and entry is free. St Peter’s Wharf (postcode W6 9UD) is at the east end of Chiswick Mall, close to Hammersmith Terrace.
