Rare meteorological event caught on camera
Local photographer John Davies was quick off the mark this week when he spotted a spectacular site in the sky above Chiswick.
The evening sky was enhanced by not one but two rainbows something which occurs very rarely. The phenomenon is known as a secondary rainbow and occurs when raindrops high in the atmosphere refract and reflect light back to the viewer.
John said, "It's a very unusual sight - a complete double rainbow over Chiswick rooftops. I don't think I've ever seen a double rainbow before, let alone managed to photograph one. It lasted for just a couple of minutes before vanishing. "
