Val Bott to give talk on Hogarth's Chiswick

Following its successful reopening, Hogarth’s House has organised  a series of talks and workshops during the year. Workshops will take place in the new study room on the second floor and will be limited to 10 participants.

Talks will take place in the Gallery on the ground floor. Reserve your ticket by sending an SAE and a cheque for £10 per person per workshop or talk made out to Hounslow Community Services, Hogarth’s House Hogarth Lane, Great West Road, London. W4 2QN.

Hogarth’s Chiswick 

A local history workshop looking at Chiswick in the 18 th century with Val Bott, Chairman of the William Hogarth Trust.  She provide an opportunity to see some of the sources available for those who wish to discover more including maps, prints, wills and other documents.

19 April 11am-1pm

An Introduction to 18 th century clothes

Vanda Foster , Curator of Gunnersbury Park Museum and a costume historian, will  look at what people wore in Hogarth’s time, using Hogarth prints which are full of information about the clothing of the day along a few items of original clothing from the Gunnersbury collection  

2 May 7pm

Talk: Hogarth’s prints

Sheila O’Connell , Assistant Keeper of Prints and Drawings, British Museum and author of The Popular Print in England. A close look at some of Hogarth’s prints, providing a chance to discover how he worked and see what the content of the images meant to 18 th century viewers.

9 June 12 to 5 free

The Hogarth’s House garden: London Open Garden Squares weekend

The garden will be open to visitors, and at 2.30pm there will be a short talk by Val Bott based upon her research for the new displays at Hogarth’s House and her study of 18 th century Chiswick nursery gardeners

Book Launch - Hogarth’s House

The new illustrated publication from Scala Books will be available for the first time here, with a short talk by its author, Val Bott, Chairman of the William Hogarth Trust
