Lecture about Lucien and Esther Pissarro and their life in Chiswick

The Brentford and Chiswick Local History Society will host an illustrated talk about Lucien and Esther Pissarro and their private printing press, on Monday, February 20th, 2012, at 7.30pm at the Chiswick Memorial Club, Bourne Place, W4.

The talk will be given by Dr. Simon Shorvon, a recent contributor to the exhibition at the Ashmolean Museum.

Lucien, (1863-1944) was the eldest son of French artist Camille Pissarro, and was himself an artist, wood engraver and printer. He founded the Eragny Press at Stamford Brook in the late 1890s.

Copies of the book which accompanied the exhibition, with Dr. Shorvon’s essay about the Pissarros’ life in W4, will be on sale at the meeting.
