Chiswick Officially Loses Its Timelessness

15 Years On Chiswick High Road Clock Starts To Tick

Visitors to Chiswick's shops and bars now know exactly how much time they have to spend along the High Road. The town centre's historic clock has been restarted after being still for more than 15 years.

The clock, which crowns the former fire station, now All Bar One, was fixed by Hounslow Council's street lighting team after discussions between the Council and the building's owner. Linked to the country's atomic time transmitter in Rugby, the clock is expected to keep perfect time after its rather prolonged rest.

Cllr Paul Lynch, chair of the Chiswick Area committee said, "Small improvements make a big difference and this is definitely the case with the High Road clock. The overhaul of the clock will not affect Chiswick’s timeless village feel, but it will show that we are up to the minute, with the latest technology powering our heritage.”
