Cycleway Closed in Chiswick Again as Upgrades Continue

The section of Cycleway 9 in the centre of Chiswick has been closed at the section as work resumes to change junctions.
The latest stage of the project, Phase 3b, has commenced at Cranbrook Road and Brackley Road, requiring the closure of these roads at the junction with the High Road.
The work will proceed westwards moving onto other junctions when the previous ones are complete with closures likely to be required at Devonshire Road, Linden Gardens and Duke Road. Roads are being switched to two way operation where necessary to maintain access.
Raised crossings will be built at these junctions.
The cycleway is likely to remain closed until at least until 2 December when work will be paused for the Christmas holidays, and the project at the end of January 2023 after resurfacing work is completed.
There will also be new eastbound and westbound bus shelters installed at Cranbrook Road, Mayfield Avenue and Linden Gardens and new parking spaces will be added near the Duke Road Junction.
A new advanced stop line for cyclists will be installed at the junction with Acton Lane and there will be junction resurfacing and the installation of new yellow boxes at the Chiswick High Road junction with Turnham Green Terrace and Annandale Road and at the junction with Dukes Avenue.
The zebra crossing on Chiswick High Road will be moved further west away from the junction with Linden Gardens.
The work will take place between 7.30am and 4pm from Monday to Saturday and the council says that residents will receive advanced notice of any night working which will be required to resurface the carriageway on Chiswick High Road in January.
Transport planners at Hounslow Council have said they did not expect the works to add significantly to the delays being experienced on the High Road due to ongoing road works on the A4.
TfL is currently holding a consultation on Cycleway 9 despite the ongoing works.

Hounslow Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Climate, Environment and Transport Strategy, Councillor Kathrine Dunne, said, “These latest improvement works are based on feedback from the local community.
“The cycle lanes have been introduced to give residents a healthier alternative to the car. It will help to reduce congestion and improve air quality in our borough.
“The Council and its partners are working hard to ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum during construction. We will continue to communicate with residents and businesses to keep them informed.
