Dummy Grenade Causes Alarm in Grove Park


Residents asked to leave their homes while police investigated

Houses in the Grove Park area were evacuated and roads closed after what was believed to be a live hand grenade was found this Monday morning (6 November).

The discovery was made in the loft of the bungalow by Grove Park Bridge and the police closed this off as well as Grove Park Gardens after being called at 11:42am.

A police car and van attended and officers knocked on the doors of neighbouring properties to inform residents of the situation, asking those closest to the scene to leave while an assessment was made.

It the event the police say the item was identified as a dummy grenade and the incident was stood down.
