Turnham Green station was closed this Tuesday afternoon (16 November) after a man died after being hit by a train.

Passengers arriving at the station were asked to leave at the time of the incident.

According to British Transport Police, the emergency services were responding to a ‘casualty on the tracks’ and the man has been pronounced dead at the scene.

An air ambulance was called and landed on Acton Green near the station entrance but was not needed. Three fire engines also attended.

Their spokesman said, "British Transport Police were called to Turnham Green Underground station at 2.09pm today (16 November) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"This incident is not being treated a suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

A spokesperson for London Ambulance service spokesman said, "We were called at 2.07pm today (16 November) to reports of a person injured by a train at Turnham Green Station.

"We sent an ambulance crew, a clinical team leader, an incident response officer, and a hazardous area response team. We also dispatched London's Air Ambulance."

The District and Piccadilly lines were suspended due to the incident leading to severe delays. The station has now reopened and the lines are operating.
