New Vicar for St. Michael’s Church, Sutton Court


Former investment banker becomes tenth vicar for the church

The new  Vicar of St Michael’s Church, Sutton Court is the Reverend Martine Oborne. She is the tenth Vicar in the church’s 100 year history and she will be formally appointed by the Bishop of Kensington in a service at 7.30 p.m. on Thursday January 26th at St Michael’s in Elmwood Road.

Her first service will be on Sunday, January 29 th, when she will celebrate and preach at the 10am Communion.

Martine comes to Chiswick from St. Mary, Islington where she was Curate. Before that her career encompassed investment banking – she was a senior director of NM Rothschild – and she has written  3 novels and 5 children’s books. She has always had a great interest in painting and drawing and she did the illustrations for some of her children’s books.

She was brought up in Kent but has lived in London for many years . She founded a children’s nursery and helped found a new C of E secondary school in Islington and has worked closely with the elderly, sick and asylum seekers.  She has just been awarded a Team London Award by the Mayor of London for her outstanding contribution to improving London and the quality of life for Londoners

She is married to Peter and they have 5 children aged between 7 years and 24 years.
