This term at Strand-on-the-Green Junior School a selection of Year 6 pupils took part in the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge. The competition is open to children across the country up to Year 8, which is a secondary school year, and the questions are really demanding for the younger children as a result.

Strand regularly has pupils achieving gold, silver and bronze medals but this year’s crop of results really is outstanding.

Helen Jones, who organises and runs the competition each year, said ‘We are very proud that this year our pupils were awarded 3 golds, 7 silvers and 11 bronzes . A brilliant result that shows how all their hard work can pay off! Congratulations to everyone who took part for showing such resilience in the face of some tricky questions’.
