Laura Ellener is currently Principal at John Madejski Academy in Reading
Chiswick School has announced its new Headteacher is Laura Ellener (pictured above) who will officially take up her position in January 2019.
Currently Principal of John Madejski Academy in Reading, her leadership skills were highlighted by Ofsted when the Academy was removed from special measures. The school was rated 'inadequate' when she took up the post in September 2016.
Ofsted commented on ‘the commitment and missionary-like zeal of the principal’; and ‘the rapidly improving teaching’. The inspectors praised the effectiveness of leadership and management as ‘good’ and commended Laura and her team for being both ‘ambitious and skilful’.
Prior to her role at John Madejski Academy, Laura spent eleven years at Capital City Academy in Brent, during which in September 2013, she was promoted to Vice-Principal.
The incoming Chiswick Headteacher will be attending the school's Open Evening for prospective parents on Tuesday 25th September 2018 and, later in the autumn term, she will begin to regularly spend time in School.
Jane Mills will remain in her role as Acting Headteacher until the end of this term and from January 2019, will continue in her role as Deputy Headteacher.
Laura Ellener said: “I am excited to begin working with pupils, staff and parents and aim to provide an exceptional local school that ensures every child achieves their potential. I can't wait to get started and am very much looking forward to meeting as many parents and pupils as possible over the coming months”
Chair of the Governing Board, Rachel Jerrome added "I'm delighted
that Laura is joining us and look forward to a great future ahead for
Chiswick School".
