Chiswick High Road Closure This Week

Chaos expected during work to repair collapsed sewer near Heathfield Terrace

Thames Water's repairs to a collapsed sewer on Chiswick High Road at the junction with Heathfield Terrace commenced on 10th April. The location of the repair will necessitate the closure of the eastbound carriageway.

A temporary diversion will be established via Belmont Road, Dolman Road and Fishers Lane. To ease traffic flow the section of Belmont Road between Chiswick High Road and Dolman Road will be one-way northbound; the parking on the north side of Dolman Road will be suspended and the cycle access at the mouth of Fishers Lane will be removed.

The two lane approach for westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane past the works area. Traffic coming out of Heathfield Terrace will only be able to turn left into Chiswick High Road. The traffic signals at the junction will remain operational which retains the pedestrian crossing facilities apart from the one to the east of the junction.

The works will will last for at least 4 days, but could be significantly longer depending on the location of the collapse, which will only be known once works have started.

Significant delays are expected in the area.
