Delayed Grove Park Bridge Repair Works to Resume

Postponed work on the Grove Park Bridge on the A316 is to resume later this month.
The project managed by TfL is to carry out maintenance work and repairs on the bridge that carries the Great Chertsey Road over the railway tracks.
Most of the work will be done under the bridge and will not affect road users but on several dates between 23 June and December there will be overnight and weekend lane closures on the A316 which may lead to additional traffic delays.
The project was due to commence in April, but it is understood that it was postponed due to rail strikes.
On the dates listed below – from 10pm to 8:00am on weekends and 10pm to 5am on weekdays – TfL will close the northbound side of the A316 with contraflow traffic lights in place to allow vehicles to move in both directions along the southbound side of the road.
The pavement on the northbound side of the road will also be closed and bus stop Hartington Road (Stop P) will be relocated nearer to the junction with Hartington Road.

Work requiring lane closures will also take place when the rail lines are shut for engineering works.
The site compound will be located at the junction of Riverside Drive on the south grass verge.
If you are planning to drive on the A316 Great Chertsey Road during these times TfL advises that you allow extra time for your journey.
The Grove Park Bridge carries the A316 over the train tracks between Chiswick and Barnes Bridge and is just south of Chiswick New Cemetery. It is not to be confused with the other bridge over the railway line in Grove Park which links Sutton Court Road with Grove Park Road.
