Protestors Hijack Council Transport Chief's Chiswick Visit

A group of protestors turned up to the launch of a new delivery service in Chiswick this Wednesday lunchtime (28 October).
They were there to express their point of view to Cllr Hanif Khan, the Hounslow Councillor with cabinet responsibility for transport and keen proponent of the road measures currently being implement across Chiswick as the moment.
About 20 people including some local shop owners were there having heard earlier in the day that the councillor was due to be paying a visit to the High Road. The meeting was outside The Italians café and deli which is directly opposite the controversial new bus gate near the junction with Acton Lane.
Traffic on the High Road was heavy at the time of the confrontation partly due to roadworks that were taking place on Acton Lane due to a burst water main.
One of the protestors said to Cllr Khan, "Never have we seen such dense traffic, pollution levels will be going through the roof, and there is no point in using the buses they cannot get about."
The protestors say that a bus driver stopped at the junction to tell them that he and his colleagues supported them, and that it had just taken him over 40 minutes to drive from Chiswick Lane to Acton Lane.
Cllr Khan was in Chiswick to promote a ecargo bike service which is offering Chiswick businesses the opportunity to provide a zero emissions delivery service to their clients in the area at no charge on a trial basis.
