Council Gives Notice of Harvard Hill Access Restriction

Hounslow Council has published the official notice of their intention to close access to motor vehicles from Harvard Hill to the A4.
As the change has been made under an Experimental Traffic Order (ETO) that means there just needs to be a one week notification period before the change can be enforced.
The order will come into operation on 6 August, however local residents report that the barrier is already in place. It states, “No person shall cause any vehicle to enter Harvard Hill, Chiswick, between a point 10 metres south of its junction with Great West Road (A4) and that junction.”
It will be still possible to drive into Harvard Hill from the A4.
The order says that water filled crash barriers will be used to block access.
There are exemptions for pedal cycles and the emergency services.
The council says it has decided to do this to reduce the amount of through traffic using this and neighbouring roads and to prioritise the safety of pedestrians and cyclists.
The no-entry restriction will be in place for a minimum of 6 months, after which the it will be reviewed to determine if it should be made permanent.

End of the trial period is 29 January 2021.
