A4 resurfacing works and closure of Sutton Lane North overnight
Traffic disruption was not as bad as expected in Chiswick from (30 November) as the disruption due to carriageway resurfacing works on the A4 meant night-time lane closures, instead of during the day. The work is expected to finish Saturday, 5 December .
TfL had not clarified this on the original press release, leading to confusion in the local area as residents feared significant congestion would take place.
The works are taking place on the carriageway of the A4 between Harvard Road and Sutton Court Road but traffic was diverted from the A4 into Barrowgate Road and Sutton Court Road .
The works started 10:30pm on Monday 30 November until 5am Saturday 5 December.
TfL said last week, "During the works we plan to close lanes on A4 Great West Road and to close Sutton Lane North. Diversion routes will be in place via Barrowgate Road and Sutton Court Road. Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
"We plan to introduce eastbound lane closures between the River Brent on the M4 and Sutton Court Road on the A4 from 22:30 on Monday 30 November until 05:00 on Saturday 5 December 2015, depending on weather conditions."
TfL say that will make every effort to ensure that noisy works are completed before midnight although vehicle reversing warning beepers will be in use to protect workers and the public.
