Acton Lane Closure Postponed

Ealing Council tell Network Rail to do maintenance work in the Summer

Ealing Council has refused to give Network Rail permission to close Acton Lane for a seven week period in January and February.

A Council spokesperson said, "After carefully reviewing the application to close the road, Ealing Council has decided to not allow the road closure until the summer holidays when there will be less traffic using the road.

"The postponement will allow the council to give road users more notice and ensure that clear signage is in place."

Network Rail had planned to carry out maintenance work, including painting, on the rail bridge over Acton Lane. The work was originally scheduled to begin on 9th January and then was postponed until the 14th January earlier this week. It was scheduled to end on 28th February.

The original closure plan was poorly publicised with no notice being given to media. The notification this site received of the plans was a few days before the original closure when members of the site contacted us to ask about the signs that had appeared by the road.

The plan was to close a section of the road from 285 Acton Lane, which is near Woolsey's of Acton bike shop, to the junction with Bollo Bridge Road.

Network Rail have not responded to our request for more information about the closure.
