Sally Gilson stepping down in Chiswick Homefields ward

Cllr Sally Gilson, Chiswick Homefields, has resigned from Hounslow Council on Wednesday 3rd November.

She stated, "It is with great sadness that I have had to resign from Hounslow Council. Unfortunately my work has now moved to Birmingham and I simply can no longer give the people of Chiswick the dedicated service that I promised when I was elected in May 2002. I have enjoyed my time serving you all and I hope that I have worked to make Chiswick a safer and even more desirable place to live. I am grateful to all my friends for the support they have given me over the last two years."

Cllr Peter Thompson, commented, "It's a real shame to lose Sally. She is just the sort of young professional person that we need to get involved in local government. It's all too common a story that London is becoming increasing expensive a place to live and people feel the need to move away. Sally could have done the bare minimum between now and the next local elections but I feel that she did the right thing in stepping down and allowing a by-election to take place."

Following the resignation of Cllr Sally Gilson, Gerald McGregor will be standing as the Conservative candidate in the Chiswick Homefields bye-election which will be taking place on December 9th

Gerald says, "If elected, I will work hard to represent the people of Chiswick with the same dedication as Sally."

Gerald, a personnel consultant, lives in the heart of Chiswick Homefields Ward in Abinger Road with his wife and family. As a local resident for twenty-five years, Gerald says he knows all about the challenges and problems that face ordinary people in Chiswick.

Gerald added, "My priorities, if elected, will be to work with the community to force to PCT to reconsider their decision to sell Chiswick Lodge, to work to reduce crime and get CCTV for Chiswick, to improve our streets and basically get better value from Hounslow Council. I want to stop the Council wasting our money. Council Tax has risen by 83% since 1997 but services are no better. I will stand up for the interests of Chiswick.?"
