Residents Object To Warple Way Development
Say 42 flats and car-park of 145 spaces unsuitable for the area
Residents in the Greenend Road area of Chiswick, (above) have objected to plans for a development on a disused railway line site near Warple Way.
An application has been made for redevelopment to provide a part three, part four-storey building accommodating 42 self-contained residential units, five of them one-bedroom and 37 two-bedroomed .
The application also includes provision for 145 parking spaces (103 of which are retained as part of the Old Factory Quarter Section 106 Agreement) part of the redevelopment of the former Prestolite Electric site, alongside 78 underutilised spaces.
Objections from local residents include that it is too high, too large for the site, will overlook houses that back onto the site, noise pollution will be increased at a time when locals are already enduring disruption from delayed sewage works, and extra pressure on traffic and schools.
The site is part of a disused railway line which is currently used as a car-park accessed from the southern end via Warple Way. It consists of part-hardcore/part-gravel surface with areas of scrub, informally laid out to provide 181 parking spaces. Seventy-nine spaces are privately leased which are owned by the applicant.
The Site is bound by residential properties to the south, commercial and residential properties to the west, residential properties to the east and Acton Pumping Station to the north.
The deadline for objections is 9 October 2019.
