Residents in Chiswick are being advised to prepare for temporary no-waiting restrictions from this week as Hounslow Highways begins a major round of street cleansing across the area.

The London Borough of Hounslow is introducing short-term parking and loading bans on selected roads to allow crews to carry out a deeper clean as part of the first phase of its new Whole Street Cleaning programme. The initiative forms part of the council’s wider investment in improving cleanliness across the borough, which also includes late-night cleansing in town centres and more frequent routine sweeping.

The restrictions in Chiswick will run for up to five days, or until the work is completed, and will apply between 7am and 4pm each day. During these hours, vehicles will not be permitted to wait or load on either side of the affected streets. Signs will be placed in advance to show the exact locations and timings.

The rules will not apply to vehicles directly involved in the cleansing operation, emergency services, or any vehicle acting under the direction of a uniformed police officer or accredited person. However, the council has reminded residents that any vehicle parked in breach of the temporary restrictions may be removed.

The measures are designed to give Hounslow Highways the access needed to carry out a more thorough clean in areas where parked cars often prevent sweepers from reaching the kerbline. Brentford roads are expected to follow in the coming weeks, with cleansing teams working across the borough throughout the year.

In response to concerns about displaced parking, Cllr John Todd has secured a concession allowing resident permit holders whose streets are being cleaned to park in any neighbouring Controlled Parking Zone within Chiswick for the duration of the works.

Residents are being encouraged to check signage carefully and move their vehicles if necessary to avoid fines or towing.
