Missing Cat Found In Kew Gardens
Didsbury is now home with his relieved family
Didsbury, the six-year-old British Blue cat has been found in Kew Gardens, nine days after he disappeared from his home in Cranbrook Road.
Kew Gardens staff member Sue spotted Didsbury (Dids) in the herbarium yesterday (Dec 13) and at first thought that he belonged to her colleague Greg.
When it was confirmed that the cat did not belong to any of the staff, they handed Didsbury into Grove Park vets where he was later reunited with his grateful owners.
"It turns out that Didsbuy had been on a very big adventure," said his owner Elizabeth York, who believes that he walked all the way from their home in Chiswick. The family had also enlisted the help of Animal Search UK. They also had a sighting by Chiswick Pier from a dog walker last Sunday. However, Didsbury had disappeared by the time the family arrived there.
It was "an epic journey" for him as he rarely leave home, said Elizabeth, who estimates Didsbury may have walked five miles during his time away from his family.
"Yesterday was a really happy day and I want to thank Greg, Sue and the staff at Kew Gardens, the residents of Chiswick for being so caring and supportive of our search for Didsbury, Animal Search UK, who left no stone unturned in Chiswick and I would recommend them to anyone who has lost a pet. Finally, I wanted to thank you for placing Didsbury's story as a priority, it is thanks to Chiswick W4 and its readers that our family is reunited." she says.
