Chiswick Rowing Success At National Schools Regatta


Several local children on winning Latymer School teams

Several Chiswick children, pupils at Latymer School, were on successful teams at the recent National Schools’ Regatta.

The event is held annually at the end of May, and is one of the key events on the rowing calendar for schools and also the largest regatta for juniors held in the country. Latymer traditionally do very well at this event and this year was no exception.

The J15 Boys Eight won Gold, making them the best crew in the country (with Eton gaining Silver and Hampton Bronze).

Those from Chiswick who participated included: Adam Stapleton, Barnaby Stroud Turb, Max Hacon, Anthony Lam Marsden, Sheldyn Hutchinson, Kate Griffiths and Schulyer Richie.

The J15 Boys Eight boat was crewed by Morgan Aguiar-Lucander, Paros Loftus, Tom Yates, Jack Harbidge, Aidan Abbott, Orlando Nixon, Ben Freeman, Oscar Holmes and Jonathan Danciger.
The J16 Boys Championship Pairs won Bronze - narrowly beaten by Pangbourne who took home the Gold and Aberdeen who took away the Silver. The crew for this event was Daniel Stark and Adam Stapleton.

The J18 Boys Fours also won Gold (beating Bedford who won Silver and Monmouth who won Bronze). The crew was Barnaby Stroud-Turp, Max Hacon, Rob O'Leary, Anthony Lam-Marsden and Sheldyn Hutchinson.

The J18 Girls Championship Quad won Bronze having been narrowly beaten by Canford who won Gold and Headington who took Silver. The boat was crewed by Rose Maxwell, Kate Griffiths, Schuyler Ritchie and Hester Odgers. The girls will be racing at Women’s Henley Regatta.
