Tim beats thousands of entrants to make it to final sixteen

Chiswick student Tim Freeman, who is in the Upper Sixth at Latymer Upper School has made it through to the final of the British Biology Olympiad.

The Olympiad is run by the Society of Biology and aims to challenge and stimulate gifted students with an interest in Biology to expand and extend their talents. Over 4000 students entered and the last 16 were selected on the basis of multiple choice and written papers taken at school.

The finals take place at the University of Birmingham in early April and a team of four students will be selected to represent the UK at the International Biology Olympiad (IBO) in Singapore in July.

“It is a great achievement to reach the final and we are very proud of Tim and wish him all the best for the finals”, said a spokesman for Latymer Upper School.

Tim is in his final year at the school and hopes to go on to read Natural Sciences at Cambridge on completion of his A Levels this summer.
