High Road House to sponsor panel for Hogarth's statue

Information plaque to be unveiled on renowned artist's birthday

The William Hogarth Trust has announced that High Road House is to sponsor an information plaque about Hogarth to be placed on railings near the statue on Chiswick High Road.

The panel will be installed over the course of the next three months and will be unveiled at a ceremony on 10th November to mark Hogarth’s birthday.

Val Bott, Chairman of the William Hogarth Trust, said  “We have always wanted to provide a simple and dignified information panel near the statue because we know that lots of people still do not know who Hogarth was – or that they can visit his former country cottage, only a short walk from the High Road.

"We are delighted that High Road House has agreed to sponsor the panel to mark their arrival in Chiswick."

Nick Jones, of High Road House, said “We at High Road House are incredibly excited to be able to sponsor the William Hogarth information panel.

"Hogarth was a great and original genius and we are glad to be able to help provide an information panel that documents his life and works for the Chiswick community and all those visiting Chiswick.”

The William Hogarth Trust grew out of the fund-raising committee which commissioned the Millennium statue of the artist which now stands outside Barclays Bank in Chiswick. Since it was unveiled the trustees have laid flowers at the statue on 10 November.

The High Road House will open their doors on Wednesday 26th July.
