Fullers Rated Best Pub Chain

Local Brewer Scoops award at recent ceremony

Chiswick based brewer and retailer Fuller Smith & Turner has been named Managed Pub Company of the Year at the Publican Awards ceremony this week.

These prestigious industry awards, organised by leading trade title The Publican Newspaper are in their 14th year and recognise the crème of the pub and licensed retail industry.

Fuller's pubs won the award against tough competition from Wolverhampton & Dudley, Barracuda, Greene King, J D Wetherspoon and the Spirit Group. Fuller's was also a finalist in the Tenanted/ Leased Pub Company and Regional Brewer categories.

The judging panel of industry experts said: 'Fuller's is a company that sends out all the right signals on behalf of the pub sector. They have a strong policy of adding value rather than slashing prices. The quality of the food, beer and wine, results in strong earnings and powerful financial performance. A company where people are genuinely looked after and motivated.'

The Publican Newspaper also commented that Fuller's has successfully proven that a regional brewer can also excel in the retail environment. It praised the company's policy of focusing on what it does best - quality cask ale, food and wine with exceptional customer service. 'Fuller's pubs are great pubs run by great people and consumers are reassured when there's a Fuller's sign above the door.'

It was an evening to remember for Simon Emeny, Fuller's retail director, who was at the ceremony to collect the award from Lenny Henry. He was thrilled to accept the award on behalf of everyone at Fuller's: "We are fortunate to have an excellent team of people working for us and I'm delighted their efforts have been officially recognised again. Winning has been a real team effort, involving everybody from our managers and pub staff to our support team. This is a wonderful reward for some great people who continually strive to run a high quality business and offer their customers that little bit extra."
