Friends of Dukes Meadows invited to a London Welsh match
On 17th October 2009 following a nomination by Chiswick Homefields Safer Neighbourhoods Team, the Friends of Dukes Meadow were invited to Old Deer Park as part of London Welsh RFC's Community of the Week programme.
The group, comprising of trustees and volunteers, from the Chiswick charity, enjoyed the hospitality of London Welsh RFC including watching the game between London Welsh and the Cornish Pirates.
Hounslow Borough Commander Mr David Bilson was on hand to greet the Friends of Dukes Meadow to complete the recognition by both the Metropolitan Police and London Welsh RFC as to the work the group does within the community. London Welsh youth teams currently play at Chiswick Rugby club in Dukes Meadows.
Kathy Healy the chair of the Friends of Dukes Meadow said, " We appreciate the nomination from the Safer Neighbourhood Team and had a fantastic day with London Welsh. It is nice to receive recognition for all the hard work that is put in by the charity. "
Rob McEvoy the Commercial Manager of London Welsh RFC said, "
London Welsh want to recognize those in the local community who are making the area a better place to live in.
As a club, we are striving to become torch bearers for all that is good in Richmond, Chiswick and Hounslow.
By publicly acknowledging the work done by groups such at the Friends of Dukes Meadow, we hope to encourage more people to volunteer, and help make the area as good as it can be, as well as allowing people to see the great entertainment on offer at Old Deer Park."
