Local charity seeks new friends

Richard Briers supports Friends of Dukes Meadows in membership drive

Local actor Richard Briers is supporting Friends of Dukes Meadows and Harvard Hill in their current membership drive.

Friends of Dukes Meadows are sending out 12,000 membership leaflets across Chiswick in the next few weeks showing the new water play area that will be built ready for next summer and are inviting people to join them or another local Friends Group.

Dukes Meadows Development Manager Kathleen Healy says, “The more members Friends Groups have the more influence they will have to lobby for investment in our parks. Good quality parks and open spaces encourage people to take exercise, even if it’s just going for a walk. Children in particular need safe and stimulating places to play.

"A recent survey by the Children’s Play Council found that children are playing and exercising less and less with serious consequences for their physical, emotional and mental health. If you love your local park and would like to see it improved, show it by joining or starting a Friends group. It really can make a huge difference."
