Volunteers Needed to Start Edible Playground

Families asked to roll up sleeves and plant berries

Abundance Chiswick is calling for volunteers to help plant lots of fruit at the playground in Dukes Meadows on Saturday, 3rd December from 11am-4pm.

The group wants to transform the area into a delicious edible playground with redcurrants, whitecurrants, blackcurrants and alpine strawberries. They will also include spring bulbs to brighten up February days while they wait for the berries to come into season later in the year.

Volunteers are asked to come along between 11am to 4pm and to bring gloves, solid shoes, warm clothing, and perhaps a favourite bulb planting trowel or shovel. A hot drink and a sandwich to keep energy up are also advised. There will be shovels, wheelbarrows and gloves provided by Dukes Meadows.

Children are welcome, but adults are reminded they are responsible for their behaviour and safety.

Funding is being provided by Heathrow Small Awards, and Dukes Meadows Trust are also involved in the scheme.
