Chiswick Fire Brigade battle flames for over an hour
Fire fighters from Chiswick Fire Station were called to a fire on Dukes Avenue on Friday 13th January.
The call was received at 21.40 stating that a fire had broken out in the top floor of the house on the corner of Dukes Avenue and Hadley Gardens.
A Fire Enginge arrived on the scene within two minutes and discovered that a neighbour had already rescued a man from his home. The elderly gentleman had burns to his body and was suffering from smoke inhalation.
The first engine was quickly joined by three other engines who, due the the ferocity of the blaze, took more than hour to get the fire under control. A specialist fire investigating team was also on the scene.
By 22.52 the fire had been put out however, the team remained on site until after 03.00 damping down. More than 60% of the building was saved.
Nigel Murray of Chiswick Fire Station told Chiswickw4.com "This house did not have a working smoke alarm. Residents can contact the fire station or call 08000 28 44 28 for a free home fire risk assessment (fire safety in the home). We will even fit a working smoke alarm if needed."
