'Brisk' Voting Reported In Chiswick On Election Day

Queues reported this morning at some polling stations

There was a good turnout of voters at Chiswick polling stations reported today (May 7th), as fine weather encouraged people to vote early.

Queues formed at some polling stations including the Town Hall and in Chiswick Lane from 7 a.m. as locals voted before heading to work. An evening 'spike' in voting is also expected with polling stations open until 10 pm.

For the Brentford & Isleworth constituency in which the outgoing MP is Mary Macleod (Cons) the counting of votes will start as soon as the ballot boxes are opened at the Civic Centre in Hounslow.

A result for the Brentford & Isleworth seat is expected in the early hours of the morning possibly around 4-5 a.m. As the seat is a marginal, a re-count is also possible. Mary Macleod won the seat in 2010 from Ann Keen, with a 1,958 majority.

Part of Chiswick is in the Ealing Central and Acton constituency, where the outgoing MP is Angie Bray (Cons).

This seat was newly created in 2010 replacing Ealing Acton and Shepherd's Bush. Previously held by Labour, it became a tight three-way marginal and in 2010 was won by Angie Bray from the Conservatives with a 3,716 majority

Here is a reminder of the state of play in both constituencies after the last election -
