Eight people have been arrested in a normally quiet residential street in Chiswick this Wednesday (25 October) after they fled there following a reported shooting.

The suspects, who are all male, had been pursued by police across West London after they responded to reports of shots being fired in North Kensington. At around 8.22pm they were called to a commercial property in Latimer Road after being told that suspects on a moped had discharged a firearm. There was nobody at the scene near the junction of North Pole Road when police arrived so they deployed a helicopter from the National Police Air Service to help in the search.

The helicopter located the suspects in the area of Southfield Park and eventually the eight people were detained by armed officers in Hatfield Road. They have been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and taken to police stations across London.

At this stage no firearm has been recovered and enquiries continue to establish whether a shooting took place.

It is the second such pursuit in the area involving a helicopter and officers on the ground to detain suspects on motorbikes in under a week. On Saturday (21 October) two suspects were chased through Chiswick and detained near Horn Lane in Acton.
