Car crashes near Acton Green Common

The New Year got off to a bang in Chiswick when, shortly before 7am a burgundy Megane crashed into one of the lamp posts on the pedestrian crossing just outside the Bedford Park Surgery, opposite Acton Green Common.

Although the lamppost struck was on the Eastbound side of the road, the car appears to have come from the East, crossed over the road and run headfirst into the obstacle.

Debris from the front of the car was strewn across the crossing and a away s far as 15m further on. The car appears to be a write-off, but no other vehicles appear to have been involved.

Two police vehicles, an ambulance, a vehicle recovery lorry and an Ealing Council lamppost repair team attended the scene. It is believed the driver was injured but this cannot be confirmed yet.

The local authority team are currently attempting to make safe the vertically challenged lamppost.
