Warm Weather Brings Spate Of Burglaries To Chiswick

Residents urged to be on the alert following thefts in Grove Park

Police in Chiswick have urged residents to be vigilant during the hot weather following a spate of burglaries in the Grove Park area.

With the recent sunny weather, residents have been leaving doors and windows open, but this has made it easy for opportunistic thieves to gain access to properties.

A police spokesman said; "We would remind all residents to lock up properly and if they are going away or out for the night to utilise timer lights and secure ALL windows."

Safer Neighbourhood Team representatives have carried out house-to-house visits following the activity of thieves in Grove Park.

There was an overnight spate of burglaries in the area last week.

There have also been reports of anti-social behaviour in the Duke's Meadows area and in the vicinity of Chiswick House grounds as well as in Gunnersbury Park.

The police are carrying out their Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) initiative at present and are asking residents to report any such behaviour to them.

Theft from motor vehicle offences continue to cause problems in Chiswick.

A police spokesman said: "I cannot reiterate enough that people need to be more vigilant and NOT leave valuables in their vehicles.

Theft of pedal cycles is also on the increase.

"Please can the message go out to people to, if possible, use two good locks.  Bike thieves rarely touch bikes with two locks on them," added the spokesman.
