Chiswick Police Arrest Man Growing Cannabis

Plant spotted in front garden in Strand on the Green area

Chiswick Police have arrested a man found growing cannabis in a garden at Strand on The Green.

Chiswick Homefields and Riverside Safer Neighbourhood Team paid a visit to the address following a tip off, and found a 3ft high cannabis plant growing within the front garden.

The male resident originally denied it was a cannabis plant but was arrested for production of cannabis and his house was searched.

During the search further amounts of pre-wrapped cannabis were found and the male was further arrested for possession of cannabis with intent to supply. He was taken to Chiswick police station and later interviewed. The cannabis has since been destroyed and the man has been bailed pending further enquires.

The police have also continued their warning to locals to be on the alert following an increase in thefts from cars. A statement said sat navs, mobile phones, and loose change were being stolen from parked vehicles and most of the crime was taking place in the side roads off the High Road, between Turnham Green tube station and Stamford Brook tube station.

Offences are happening both day and night. Police have increased patrols in the area, in uniform and plain clothes. They have warned people not to leave items on display in parked cars.
